About Cristin

From a young age, I have been passionate about art and creativity. My journey has taken me from dance to singing and directing, allowing me to develop a unique style that reflects my personal experiences and career background.

Cristin Mortenson Tillinghast earned her MFA in Directing from University of Ideaho, her MA in Theatre from Regent University, and a Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in Opera At 22, she began performing the role of Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. 

After enjoying a rich and varied 32-year career that included opera, musical theatre, film, recital, and television, Cristin began teaching full-time as an Associate Professor in the Theatre Department at the University of Utah and in her private Voice Studio.

In 2009, she received the honorary award of Outstanding Alumni from the College of the Desert for her contribution to the world of performing. That same year, she met and married her husband, Jason, and she opened the CMT Voice Studio on the East Coast. Mrs. Tillinghast has served as a Guest Artist Teacher at Cornish College of the Arts and conducted Master Classes at many universities nationwide.

Her students' success has led them to attend musical theatre and opera programs at NYU Tisch, NYU Steinhardt, Syracuse University, the University of Connecticut, Columbia, Penn State, UCLA, the University of Utah, and many others.

Ms. Mortenson Tillinghast just began working with the St. George Musical Theatre and is thrilled to be part of the theatre community here in St. George, Utah.

Ms. Mortenson Tillinghast is an 11-time Ironman and 5-time marathon finisher who resides in St. George with her husband and best friend, Jason.
